Welcome to the Provincial Council for Maternal and Child Health (PCMCH) – Emergency Department Paediatric Readiness (EDPR) Portal
Funded by the Ministry of Health, the Provincial Council for Maternal and Child Health (PCMCH) is a provincial organization that provides evidence-based and strategic leadership for perinatal, newborn, child and youth services in Ontario. PCMCH’s mission is to improve health outcomes and reduce inequities through effective leadership, collaborative partnerships and the use of evidence.
The Emergency Department Paediatric Readiness (EDPR) is a quality improvement initiative to assess the readiness of Ontario’s EDs to provide safe and high-quality care to paediatric patients. The assessment is not prescriptive, nor does it instruct hospitals about what must be in place in order to see paediatric patients within their EDs. Instead, it provides an important mechanism for determining baselines and progress in paediatric readiness, and for identifying and driving improvements within organizations, regions and the larger provincial system of care.
